OTC areas open April 20 – May 31
Limited Quota draw area open April 1 – May 31
Wyoming offers a relaxed yet highly productive spring turkey hunt with long seasons, excellent bird numbers, and access to expansive public land complemented by quality private leases. These 2×1 guided hunts are conducted in classic Western turkey habitat, including pine-covered hills, river bottoms, and open country, providing hunters with a true spot-and-stalk and calling experience throughout the spring.
Hunters have two license options to choose from: an Over-the-Counter (OTC) general turkey tag or a Limited Quota (Draw) opportunity. OTC hunts take place on a combination of Black Hills National Forest, public access areas, and private leased ground, with seasons open from April 20 through May 31. The Limited Quota option is Hunt Area 1, Type 3, which requires an application through the random draw and offers an early-season opportunity running April 1 through May 31, utilizing both private leases and select public access.
All hunts are fully guided on a 2×1 basis, allowing guides to focus on calling strategies, bird behavior, and daily movement patterns. Meals and lodging are not included, giving hunters flexibility in accommodations, with cabins, hotels, and short-term rentals available in nearby towns including Upton, Newcastle, Lusk, Casper, Douglas, and Kaycee depending on hunt location.
The base price for both OTC and Limited Quota hunts is $1,495 per person plus tax. Hunters who draw the Limited Quota Hunt Area 1, Type 3 tag may add a second bird to their hunt for an additional $500 per person, making this an excellent option for those looking to maximize opportunity during Wyoming’s extended spring turkey season.
