Late October
This southeastern Wyoming private ranch is quickly gaining notoriety for producing trophy quality mule deer bucks and its plentiful antelope population. In totality the ranch is over 60,000 acres (95 square miles) and varies from 6,400-8,600 feet in elevation. The lower portions of the ranch feature rolling grasslands containing cottonwoods within the drainages which gradually give way to the hogbacks containing an array of pine, willow, and low brush plant varieties. This hunt can be as physically demanding as a hunter desires but as an overall rule of thumb it is low impact. A developed road system within the ranch makes cutting distances simple and eliminates brutally long hikes.
Spot and stalk hunting techniques are almost exclusively used regardless of weapon choice in this area. Often time’s hunters will find themselves sitting on a high vantage point at daybreak, glassing the vast landscape until a suitable mule deer or antelope buck is found. Once located, hunter and guide will work into a suitable shooting position. This outfitter and his experienced team of guides have produced excellent results for not only rifle hunters but also bow/crossbow hunters. They understand how to get within archery range as well as seal the deal on big bucks with bows and crossbows. The 2018 archery season produced a 100%+ shot opportunity for archery hunters on mule deer bucks. Antelope numbers on the ranch continue to grow with consistent trophies being taken. Hunting antelope in conjunction with mule deer is a perfect pairing of quentisential western game. Deer will be hunted in the early mornings and evenings with mid day being used to pursue pronghorn antelope.
Due to the immense size of the ranch as well as limited offtake the quality of mule deer is ever improving. Extensive preseason scouting is done to ensure every hunter has the best chance possible to harvest a mature animal. No more than four deer hunters are allowed on the ranch at one time and twelve total hunts are offered each season.
Lodging consists of a five bedroom/ four bath rock house that has acted as a focal point in the region for over a century. The lodge has been renovated with all modern conveniences but still holds onto its deep western roots. A caretaker will be present to provide all meals and ensure your stay is one to remember.
