Species: Waterfowl
Location: Greenland

The new crave in the waterfowl world is the broken coast of western Greenland, home to a substantial population of both Common and King Eiders. Unlike other parts of the world, these birds find refuge on this jagged coastline, allowing access to hunters. Anytime hunting occurs on or near the ocean, weather is a factor. It can be extreme at times, but those who are prepared for the elements can experience some of the fastest action-packed waterfowling of their lives!

And now we’re offering you a chance at this waterfowler’s adventure of a lifetime along with a prize package of top-notch gear in WTA’s newest sweepstakes.

Eider hunting occurs from February to the end of March. Days start with a boat ride out to Eider country, but many times they can be spotted from the harbor. The numerous fjords and islands create a tremendous jigsaw puzzle of prime water and feeding areas for these birds, so even though there may be a well-laid-out plan for the day, this can change in an instant as you round the corner and run into a raft of 200 Eiders.

Hunts are conducted in two ways:

Decoys — This is a big change for the people of Greenland! On my first trip there, I brought 18 Eider decoys and 2 spinners that I painted to resemble Common Eiders. I was told that this would never work. I can tell you that it does, extremely well! With decoys deployed from shore, I have never harvested Eiders closer than I did on these decoyed hunts. Please understand that this is new to the guides of Greenland, but they are quickly learning our methods and seeing the results.

Floating — This is the hunting that Greenlanders are most familiar with and best at. Upon arrival on my first trip, I was told this is how things are done, and I have to admit, I was not overly excited.  However, after drifting towards an Eider, waiting for it to take flight, and then taking my shot, I realized this method closely resembles jump shooting ducks back home in the U.S.

Over the past 25+ years of global travel, I have learned to visit new venues and destinations with an open mind, doing my best to understand each destination’s style and methods and immerse myself in their culture. I try to learn something new or share something that has worked for me in the past. Each time I travel to Greenland, the culture, people, terrain, and sights seem to ground me from the fast-paced existence I live every day here in the States.

Greenland is truly a cultural experience that has tremendous upsides for the waterfowler who is looking to harvest some of the greatest trophies in the bird world!

This hunt for two, valued at $16,100, will take place from February 15–20, 2024, but the sweepstakes ends October 9, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.

Not only will you be hunting Eider in Greenland, you’ll also be decked out with a Benelli Super Black Eagle 3 – BE.S.T. Shotgun in 12 gauge and over $2,000 of the most advanced waterfowl gear on the planet from AVES Hunting, including the Bering Kinetic Jacket, Bering Bib, Wading Storm Shell, Drifter Vest and Drifter Pant, Stratum Face Mask, and Hybrid Elite Pack.

Sweepstakes tickets are $20, and you can increase your chances to win by purchasing up to 10. Plus, every dollar earns its equal in Bonus Bucks, which you can cash in on your next WTA hunt or TAGS portfolio.

Don’t miss this opportunity to bring home “The King,” the holy grail of waterfowl species, and so much more! If you’d like to discuss this adventure, give me a ring at 1-800-346-8747 or click the button below now to get entered.

Kansas: A Whitetail Hunter’s Paradise

Kansas: A Whitetail Hunter’s Paradise

Kansas is at the top of the list for many whitetail enthusiasts. Why? Because big bucks are most often produced in the Midwest, and Kansas has done an excellent job of managing its whitetail herd for decades. However, tag quotas are decreasing slightly and application numbers are continuing to increase, making it more difficult to draw a whitetail tag. Non-residents can no longer apply for a tag in late April and be guaranteed to draw. In fact, with 0 points, first-time applicants can expect drawing odds to be less than 70%. Purchasing a whitetail preference point is now highly recommended.

The Ultimate Elk Hunt and More: Why Montana Should Be on Your Radar

A big bull elk is at the top of nearly every hunter’s bucket list. But the chance to acquire this regal trophy often comes with a hefty price tag, comparable to a new vehicle, or requires decades of bonus points to draw. The solution? Montana. The Big Sky State has impressive bulls and tags that can be drawn within four to six years, or often with some luck, even sooner. Not only do these expansive private ranches offer world-class elk hunting, but the opportunities for mule deer and whitetail deer are equally noteworthy.

Deadline to Apply: April 1 for Elk, Deer, Big Game Combo. May 1 for Moose, Sheep, Goat.…
