Elk Hunting in New Mexico’s Valle Vidal
Hunting bull elk in the Valle Vidal is a truly magical experience. “The Valle” is a true masterpiece; it’s absolutely gorgeous, not overly physical and full of unpressured elk that aren’t afraid to talk. The country has a nice roll to it and is a mix of ponderosa pine and aspens. The elevation change is not overly dramatic, so even though the hikes into the herds can be long, most hunters in reasonable condition will enjoy their time afield. The elk herd is extremely robust. There seem to be elk everywhere on the Valle Vidal, and these bulls on this unit can really get cranked-up. The September archery hunt is a real pleasure. The muzzleloader and rifle tags also provide an incredible experience.
