Nevada Unit 231 Bull Elk

The elk population in Nevada is one of the lowest of all western states. Don’t let this deter you from applying, because when it comes to bull quality, the Silver State is definitely at the top of the list. If you can get your hands on an elk tag in Nevada you will be the envy of the application world because trophy bulls abound.

Unit 231, is located in eastern Nevada near the town of Pioche right on the Utah border. This is one of the best units in the state. There are three major mountain ranges on the unit with elk on all of them. The genetic in this unit seems to throw heavy bulls with great fronts. On a typical year, there are plenty of 320-350 bulls, with better potential. From a physicality standpoint one must be ready to hike, however, the unit does have decent roads and the wilderness area can be day hunted for those in better shape.
