30 Bucks for a Chance to Win a $30,000 Elk/Rifle/Scope Package

$30 for a chance to win a $30,000 Utah elk hunt plus a Gunwerks NEXUS 300 PRC rifle and a Leupold 5-25×56 rifle scope. Even I can do the math in my head. That $30 represents an investment of 0.1% of the value of the entire package.

But the main point is, you’ll win a rifle elk hunt in northern Utah on one of the most prestigious Cooperative Wildlife Management Units (CWMU) in the state and the Gunwerks new rifle system and the Leupold scope, so talk about a win that keeps winning. Imagine a 300″+ bull elk on your wall to prompt a smile every time you see it, and the Gunwerks ingenious evolution of long-range rifle systems with a clear, crisp Leupold scope you can use on hunts from now until the cows come home.

It’s phenomenal. A dream hunt that promises to be a cool, memorable experience with the opportunity to hunt this 36,000-acre private ranch’s resident elk herd. I’d say bulls will range in the 300″ range on up, with most in the 310″ range, but they take 340″ and bigger bulls on an annual basis. I’d rather undersell and overdeliver. Let’s say you’ll target 300″ bulls but this hunt could produce anything.

I’ve sold hunts at this ranch, which is surrounded by other well-managed properties, for more than 20 years and the hunter reports have been outstanding. This is an extremely popular hunt that typically sells out over a year in advance. There’s high shot opportunity and a road system throughout the property makes the experience accessible to pretty much any level of capability. I’d say it’s a gentle hunt, in the sense of ease of accessibility, but I don’t want to jinx it. It’s hunting after all, so unknown factors can pop up. I’ll leave it at this: opportunity will certainly be there—what you do with it is up to you.

This is a 1×1 5-day hunt with an experienced guide who is good at field judging, finding, and stalking these elk. (Many hunters tag out by the third day, but again, I don’t want to jinx It.) Plan on a spot-and-stalk hunt, with likelihood of the excitement of calling in bulls. It’s not uncommon to see 50 to 100 elk each day. Rustic cabins provide comfortable accommodations and the home-cooked meals are fantastic.

The Gunwerks NEXUS 300 PRC rifle, an excellent caliber for big elk, is made entirely in-house at the Gunwerks facility in Cody, Wyoming. Every component is produced there so they can control quality and manufacturing from raw material to completed product. The Leupold 5-25×56 riflescope is icing on the cake.

Gunwerks and Leupold are long-time WTA partners. Many WTA employees can vouch for the reliable performance of Gunwerks rifles. There are great stories about them working flawlessly in the field. And Leupold’s reputation for sharp, concise, and reliable optics is unquestioned.

You owe it to yourself to look at the NEXUS rifle system. I can tell you about the features but you really need to see for yourself how well-thought-out it is. Consider this: it features an interchangeable barrel system (Think of the possibilities of easily switching calibers.), a new NEXUS stock design with improved vertical grip, a new NXT action, new magazine, and full-length ARCA/Picatinny bipod mount. Seriously, you need to visit Gunwerks.com and see it to believe it.

This is an extraordinary hunt/rifle/scope package that’s well worth the $30 gamble. Actually, you can purchase up to 10 tickets, and for every dollar you spend you’ll earn one WTA Bonus Buck, which you can cash in on your next WTA adventure or apply to your next TAGS portfolio. Just remember, they are valid for one year from your sweepstakes purchase.

Win this and you’re set up for the best hunt of your life. I know I’d be doing backflips if I won.

Good luck!

Estate Hunting: A Closer Look at a Misunderstood Hunting Option

Estate Hunting: A Closer Look at a Misunderstood Hunting Option

Estate hunting, often referred to as high fence hunting, is one of the most misunderstood segments of the modern hunting landscape. The term can carry strong assumptions, but those assumptions rarely reflect the reality of what these hunts actually involve.

At its core, estate hunting offers hunters access to large, privately managed properties where wildlife is carefully stewarded, and hunting opportunities are predictable, efficient, and highly successful. These hunts are not intended to replace traditional public-land or limited-entry experiences. They are meant to provide an alternative option for hunters with specific goals, time constraints, or physical considerations.

Understanding estate hunting begins with recognizing how the properties operate and what the experience looks like on the ground.

What Defines an Estate Hunt?

Estate hunts take place on privately owned ranches or preserves enclosed by a perimeter fence. These properties can range from several thousand acres to well over 100,000 acres, depending on location, species, and management model.

Within these boundaries, wildlife populations are actively managed year-round. Landowners and outfitters focus on habitat improvement, water development, herd health, genetics, and balanced harvest rates. The result is a stable wildlife population with a strong age structure and consistent hunting opportunity.

Because animals remain on the property, outfitters can offer hunts with a very high harvest probability. In many cases, hunters can pursue specific age classes, horn characteristics, or species that would otherwise require years of applying or limited-entry permits.

What the Experience Is Actually Like

One of the most common misconceptions about estate hunting is that animals are easily located and harvested quickly in a confined space. In reality, many estate properties are vast, and hunters may never see the perimeter fence during their hunt.

These ranches often feature diverse terrain of rolling hills, timber, brush country, open plains, canyons, and river bottoms, allowing animals to behave naturally. Hunters glass, stalk, track, and pass animals just as they would on large private ranches or expansive Western properties.

Once on the ground, the hunt feels far more like a traditional spot-and-stalk or guided private land experience than what many imagine when they hear the term “high fence.”
