Vancouver Island Black Bear Hunt

Hunt coastal black bears on Vancouver Island with one of the island’s veteran outfitters. This 5-day spot-and-stalk hunt will have you exploring the wild west coast and mountains of Vancouver Island.

The outfitter’s 4,500-square-mile hunting concession allows hunters to explore the island in search of trophy black bears using 4x4s, boats, and hiking, all while being escorted by an experienced guide who knows how to find and judge coastal black bears. Your license and tags will be secured and ready upon your arrival.

Hunts are typically day trips along ocean shorelines and estuaries, and low-elevation green-ups in logging slashes and abandoned roads. As the season warms, more bears emerge from hibernation and the breeding season produces large boars chasing sows and fighting for dominance. Spring black bears this time of year are most often boars, and most exceed 6′ square, with some even reaching over 7′. Hunters can expect to see multiple bears each day.

This hunt is hosted at a grand 6,000-square-foot log lodge featuring private rooms and baths, along with an executive chef. Breakfast and dinner are served at the lodge, while lunch is enjoyed in the field.
